Roy began his career as a letter carrier on March 28, 2008, at the River Edge NJ Post Office, which was later merged into the Paramus NJ Post Office. He became a shop steward in November of 2008, and has gone onto even more rolls ever since.
Throughout the years, Roy has held many positions with Branch 38. They include Route Examination Observer, Route Inspection Trainer, Joint Route Inspection Team Member, OJI Instructor, Local and Branch 38 Food Drive Coordinator, Customer Connect Coordinator and Safety Representative.
In 2010 Roy played an important role of a legislative Coordinator in NJ during the National Headquarters, Grassroots Campaign. In June of 2014, he was appointed by President Pete Maglio to be Part-Time Area Representative for Branch 38. That same year, Roy graduated from Leadership Academy Class #18. The very same year he was appointed as the District Lead for the CDRAAP joint route inspection process. In 2015 Roy graduated from Arbitration Advocate Training and has been utilizing that training to further represent Branch 38 members and Region 15 as one of our standout advocates. He was very successful in arbitration during the 2017-2018 LMOU impasses. Roy worked part time as a Local Business Agent for the NBA office as part of the ACTT Team from 2015-2019.As the ACTT Team member he helped over 5 different branches with the grievance process and training their shop stewards. Roy also worked at NALC Headquarters on a City vs Rural project in 2019.
President Mike O’Neill appointed Roy to the position of Trustee and Branch 38 Food Drive Coordinator in 2017. Roy was elected by acclamation to the position of Sergeant of Arms in January of 2018. In 2021 Roy became a full-time officer as he was elected Recording Secretary. In 2022 President O’Neill appointed him to the Mutual Benefit Association Head for Branch 38. In 2023 Roy was on the first team of facilitators to train Branch 38 Formal A Representatives.In 2024 Roy spearheaded the newly created Branch 38 CAU Committee. The CAU Committee heads the grievance and arbitration process, as well as the training of Branch 38 Shop Stewards, Area Representatives and new Arbitration Advocates.
Roy is very proud to represent the members of the NALC. He particularly appreciates the members and how they trust him and have the confidence in him to defend alltheir interests.
